My column in today’s Greenville News and Anderson Independent Mail. Of note, this is kind of a big day. This is the first time I’ve ever had an op-ed in two papers at once! Admittedly, the papers are connected. But they serve slightly differeent geographic areas. Still, I’ll take it!

Almost 26 years in the practice of medicine, and more and more I’m asking ‘what happened to this thing we love?’
Very well said, I try to practice medicine the way I have for 30+ years, meaning being present to my patients and giving each the time they need. We always say, “Patients are not widgets”!
I am an emergency room nurse and I too feel all the frustrations you have voiced…so how do we fix this problem? Does anyone have any idea how to fight back against a ridiculous robotic over-analyzed under-humanized absolutely essential system that has gone so far astray?
